The 2019 AVEK Award was granted to artist Reija Meriläinen, who works with videos, sculptures and installations. The AVEK Award, worth €15,000, is granted by the Promotion Centre for Audiovisual Culture (AVEK) operating within Kopiosto. The award was presented today at AVEK’s New Year celebration, held at Espoo Museum of Modern Art (EMMA).

AVEK has chosen a new commissioner in charge of documentaries and short films. Director and producer Mikko Peltonen will start in the position on 26 August.
