Hannu Karjalainen’s essay film is about an attempt to better understand the forest

In his film The Forest Is Wired For Wisdom, the artist Hannu Karjalainen examines trees and the forest both as organisms capable of communication and as strange and uncontrollable beings. The documentary essay advocates the biodiversity of forests. The series of articles presents the creators selected for the Kehittämö programme and their projects.

Hannu Karjalainen is working within the Kehittämö programme on a documentary essay film The Forest Is Wired For Wisdom, produced by Sandra Enkvist from Polygraf.

Kehittämö – Talent Development Lab is a new development programme by AVEK and the Finnish Cultural Foundation, the aim of which is to strengthen the personal voices of the most talented filmmakers of their generation and create new audiovisual works of the highest quality. Authors selected for the programme receive a €55,000 grant to develop their work, as well as personal mentoring from top international professionals in the field.

The programme is made possible by the financial support of the Finnish Cultural Foundation. Half of the funding for the programme comes from the Finnish Cultural Foundation and half from AVEK’s compensation for private copying.
