Calls opened with exceptional arrangements, no information on this year’s funds
The project grants and scriptwriting support that can currently be applied for, as well as AVEK’s contribution to the Nuorten lyhytelokuvafestivaali project, are paid from the national funds allocated to AVEK by the Kopiosto Board of Directors, which are intended for the promotion of domestic creative projects. The total funding for these grants amounts to €190,000. The support for international promotion is funded with the compensation funds carried over from last year.
The bulk of our funding comes from the compensation for private copying, which comes from the state budget. Last year, the Government cut the total amount of the compensation by half, which will affect our funds this year.
We do not yet know how much of the remaining compensation will be allocated to AVEK. Therefore, we do not yet know how much grant money we will have this year, nor can we distribute any yet.
The application period for the third round of Kehittämö, a joint development programme of AVEK and the Finnish Cultural Foundation, closed in December, and the decisions will be made in early spring. Kehittämö is a four-year programme, half of the funding for which comes from the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
While the core funding for AVEK’s activities is currently uncertain, we will endeavour to open calls for applications whenever possible. We will announce the calls on our website, in our newsletter and on our social media channels.
