Mediarata grants are available again – apply now!

The Ministry of Education and Culture has allocated €200,000 in separate funding for the Mediarata support for this year. The grants are intended for the enhancement of the media art production culture and may be applied for from 1 February to 14 March 2022.

The Mediarata grants aim to improve the operating conditions of the production companies and producers working in media art, promote the continuity of operations and boost the status of Finnish media art. The goal is also to facilitate international media art co-production and promote the professional and international distribution of media art.

The 2022 Mediarata application period runs from 1 February to 14 March. Applications can be submitted via AVEK’s application system. All applications must be submitted via the system by 16:00 on the last application day.

These are experimental grants that AVEK has so far awarded four times by using the Ministry of Education and Culture’s special appropriations. The previous application round took place in December 2020.

Grant decisions are made based on an assessment of a production company’s development plan, both in terms of the development of the production and individual works. The aim is to increase the grant amounts awarded per company based on the needs stated in the applications.
