Narrative film by Juho-Pekka Tanskanen combines realistic and magical expression

Director Juho-Pekka Tanskanen is working on his first feature film Beatan kevät in the Kehittämö Talent Development Lab. Tanskanen, who has previously directed documentary films, explains his relationship with fictional film and talks about the significance of the cooperation between the producer and the director in terms of the film. The interview is part of a series on creators and their projects in the Kehittämö Talent Development Lab.

Juho-Pekka Tanskanen is working on his film Beatan kevät, produced by Venla Hellstedt from Dionysos Films, as part of the Kehittämö Talent Development Lab programme.

Kehittämö – Talent Development Lab is a development programme by AVEK and the Finnish Cultural Foundation, the aim of which is to strengthen the personal voices of the most talented filmmakers of their generation and create new audiovisual works of the highest quality. Authors selected for the programme receive a €55,000 grant to develop their work, as well as personal mentoring from top international professionals in the field.

The programme is made possible by the financial support of the Finnish Cultural Foundation. Half of the funding for the programme comes from the Finnish Cultural Foundation and half from AVEK’s compensation for private copying.
