Film entrepreneur and producer Oskar Forstén from the film production company Polygraf joins AVEK as a film commissioner. At AVEK, Forstén will be responsible for making grant decisions for documentaries and short films and advising applicants together with our media art commissioner. He will also contribute to the development of AVEK’s operations.
“I am very much looking forward to getting started as a film commissioner at AVEK. I see the job as a great opportunity to support experienced filmmakers in their film projects and help new filmmakers find their footing in the film industry. I feel very privileged to be involved in developing the Finnish documentary and short film scene,” says Forstén.
Forstén graduated as a media producer form Turku UAS’ Arts Academy in 2009, before which he also studied filmmaking in Sweden. Forstén has been producing documentaries at Polygraf for over a decade with his business partner Arthur Franck.
“I am delighted to welcome such a visionary film commissioner as Forstén to AVEK. He has a wide range of expertise in different types of productions and knows how to work with both beginners and experienced filmmakers. Forstén has already established good contacts with potential international colleagues, especially in the Nordic countries. It is also highly valuable that he himself has experience in film directing,” says Ulla Simonen, Director of AVEK.
The term of office of Mikko Peltonen, the current film commissioner at AVEK, expires at the end of the year.
“I would like to thank Peltonen for the dedicated approach he has had to his work as a film commissioner and, in particular, for the way he has built a good and trusting relationship with AVEK’s grant applicants,” Simonen says.
