Hello, my name is Tomi Pohto. I joined Kopiosto in early November 2020 as an addition to the Rightsholders Services team.
My area of responsibility included handling matters relating to authority, customer services, AV line tasks and contact with right holders. In other words, the range of duties is wide, challenging and varied, and there is a lot to keep in mind.
From the get-go, I found that Kopiosto has a culture of professional efficiency which is still relaxed, discussion-oriented, approachable and mutually supportive. You are never left to your own devices, as help is available and often generously offered. One of the most important things I noticed at the start of my Kopiosto career was the excellent task orientation that was arranged for me. Even though the volume of work may be massive, you are never overwhelmed by the busy schedule or stress.
I am familiar with working with copyrights. I previously worked for Teosto’s AV reporting services for about ten years. After that, I found myself in the “what do I want to be when I grow up” phase of my life and got a qualification as a pharmaceutical technician in my older years. Yet, the copyrights sector drew me back like a magnet and I delved back into its fascinating depths once more.
I started my new job during the worst phase of the COVID-19 crisis. Remote work has been going smoothly, and our team maintains contact electronically on almost a daily basis. Even at my home office, I have felt myself as being part of the group. The organisation genuinely cares about the well-being of its staff. We get together for weekly meetings to catch up and talk. The employer has also arranged recreational activities. The cooking lessons, guidance on ergonomics and nutrition, and remote yoga have absolutely provided us with more energy for our daily tasks.
My free time has mostly been spent with hobbies, such as reading, films and TV shows, heavy metal and drawing. Add two dogs, an aquarium and my gig as a freelance writer for the Inferno magazine on top, and I can safely say that I have no shortage of hobbies.
In terms of the future, my hope is to gain more interesting work tasks and enjoy amazing moments with my co-workers!
