We study the use of copyright protected material in different sectors of society from educational institutions to businesses. The collected data helps us distribute remunerations to the authors, performers and publishers in the creative industry.

Why do we conduct surveys? A work is copied and used with Kopiosto's copyright licence. With copying surveys we find out what kind of works are being copied and how much. We utilise the survey results in the pricing of licence products, the distribution of copying remunerations and the development of new licenses.

We study the trends in copying and use of copyright protected material, such as texts, photos, images and audiovisual works in different sectors of society from educational institutions to businesses. The  research data helps us distribute the collected remunerations to the authors, performers and publishers in the creative industry.

We develop our research activities constantly by monitoring the changes occurring in our operational environment. We also provide up-to-date information on topics that are of interest to rightsholders and support the collective management of their copyrights. In addition, we have cooperative research activities with other Nordic copyright organisations.
