Our copying licence for training and consultation activities enables limited photocopying of printed publications and printing of copyrighted material for clients and/or participants of a training. A separate copying licence applies to organisations’ internal use of copies. The copying licence acquired for the purposes of an organisation’s internal use does not apply to training and consultation services provided to external parties.
What does our copying licence enable?
Our copying licence enables
- photocopying excerpts from various types of publications, such as articles from newspapers, magazines, professional publications, scientific journals and excerpts and images from books and research reports.
- printing copyrighted material from a digital source, such as online newspaper or magazine articles, online publications and reports
- using copies as additional material to original teaching and consultation material or as the teaching and consultation material if there is no original material available.
You are authorised to copy a maximum of 20 pages of a single publication, but not more than half of the publication. You can copy 10 % of the total page number of SFS standards or publications that include such standards, but not more than a total of 20 pages.
During a licence period, you may produce as many copies of pages of copyrighted works as the licence acquired for a photocopier allows you to, but not more than 500 copies of the same work or publication.
Our licence for training and consulting does not apply to the copying of workbooks, exercise books, answer books, sheet music, song lyrics or international standards or producing copies of works for the purposes of publishing.
Our licence does not apply to material that the copying of with Kopiosto’s licences has been prohibited by the author, publisher or another copyright holder (list of works and copyright holders)
Our licence for training and consultation activities does not apply to scanning or digital copying and usage.
How to acquire a licence
The licence for training and consultation activities is based on page amount licence, which must be renewed at the end of every calendar year. We offer licences that allow the copying of copyrighted material in quantities of 1,000, 2,000, 5,000 and 10,000 pages.
If your organisation operates in several locations or has subsidiaries, you can acquire a centralised licence for all locations or the entire company, or you can acquire a separate licence for each location and subsidiary. If you order a centralised licence for your entire company or for several locations, please indicate all the locations and subsidiaries to be included within the scope of the licence in your order form.

How much does the licence for training and consultation activities cost?
We offer copying licences for the copying of copyrighted material for the purposes of training and consultation activities that are valid for one calendar year. We offer licences that allow the copying of copyrighted material in quantities of 1,000, 2,000, 5,000 and 10,000 pages. Select a suitable licence for that corresponds to the amount of copyrighted pages to be printed or copied during the licence period with the device. For example, copying 10 pages of original material for 10 people counts as a total of 100 copies.
Our remuneration is based on the amount of copyrighted copied or printed pages. The licence enables the copying of copyrighted publications and other materials up to the amount of pages ordered.
