What am I not allowed to copy?
Our copying licence does not allow you to make copies of:
- materials that are used under a separate agreement or licence, such as:
- newspaper and magazine materials behind a paywall
- digital sheet music publications
- digital standards
- content available on the SFS Online or Rakennustieto digital services
- works created by private individuals and shared by them on social media, discussion forums, blogs or image-sharing services
- images sold separately from an article or other publication by photo agencies and similar organisations
- workbooks or answer keys
- works or publications the copying and use of which under Kopiosto’s licence have been prohibited by the copyright holder. See the list at www.kopiosto.fi/en/kopiosto/copying-prohibitions.
NOTE! With our copying licence, you may not scan or digitally copy:
- research reports or similar publications
- scripts of plays
- comics originally published somewhere other than Finland.
For what purposes am I not allowed to use copies?
You may not use copies for external communications or use, such as publishing, marketing, or training and consulting activities organised for persons other than staff.
With our copying licence, you may not use works or publications for text and data mining, web scraping, or the development or training of AI programs. You can acquire a separate, additional licence, supplementary to our copying licence, for fine-tuning an internal AI program of your company.
For what purposes am I not allowed to use copies in my company’s closed AI application?
You may not replace the purchase of or subscription to works or content with the output you produce with an AI application. You may also not create an output that imitates the look, expression or style of other works or content. You are not allowed to edit photos with an AI application.

How am I not allowed to use the outputs of an AI application?
You are not allowed to share your AI-generated output with anyone outside of your organisation’s staff or include the output as part of a product or service, regardless of whether the product or service is subject to a charge or free of charge.
