Kopiosto paid €12 million in copyright remunerations to the authors and publishers

We recently paid more than €12 million in copying remunerations to 26 member organisations representing various fields of culture and communications. The remunerations come from the copying licences for text, images and sheet music we have sold this year.

We sell licences for the use of copyrighted works and publications. For example, our licences can be used to copy and save articles published online as well as copy and scan materials from magazines and books. The licences are purchased by educational institutions, companies, communities, municipalities and the central government.

We pay copying remunerations to our member organisations three times a year.
