Additional licence for consulting activities
The additional licence for consulting activities allows copies to be included in slideshows that an employee of your company presents to those participating in the consulting activities.
Consulting activities mean the expert service that your company provides to solve challenges and development needs related to your customer’s operations. This may involve advisory services, guidance, studies, surveys, assessments or similar expert work. Consulting activities are not tied to a specific industry.
A slideshow means a presentation, such as a PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation, that you have prepared yourself for consulting activities or a consulting tender.
What does the licence cover?
For slideshows, you may copy excerpts and images from Finnish and foreign books and other printed publications and newspaper and magazine articles, as well as materials available online with the consent of the copyright holder that are accessible without requiring you to purchase a separate licence or other right of access. You may also utilise e-books to which your company’s staff have access based on a subscription or agreement.
If you create a slideshow with our licence, you are allowed to:
- present the slideshow to the participants of consultation sessions in person or remotely
- distribute the slideshow by email, on a closed platform or as paper copies or printouts to the participants of consultation sessions or the tendering phase of consulting services, as well as partners and subcontractors of the consulting services.
You may not make copies of:
- materials that are used under a separate agreement or licence, such as newspaper and magazine materials behind a paywall, digital standards, or content available on the SFS Online or Rakennustieto digital services
- works created by private individuals and shared by them on social media, discussion forums, blogs or image-sharing services
- images sold separately from an article or other publication by photo agencies and similar organisations
- workbooks or answer keys
- works or publications the copying and use of which under Kopiosto’s licence have been prohibited by the copyright holder.
You may not use slideshows created with our licence in your external communications, such as marketing, publishing activities or social media. The licence for consulting activities does not permit the use of text or images in AI applications, text or data mining, or the development or training of AI.
Remember to provide the source and the author
You must include in the slideshow the source and author information for all content copied into it and a mention that the slideshow was made under Kopiosto’s copying licence.
See the licence terms for more details.

Additional licence for fine-tuning a company’s internal AI program
You can add a separate licence to your company’s copying licence for using text and image materials to fine-tune an AI program used internally by your company. This additional licence requires a valid copying licence.
An AI program used internally by a company means an AI bot, agent or similar AI application that is used only by your company’s own staff and only for internal use within your company. Internal use refers to administrative use, such as internal preparation, communications, training and research.
Fine-tuning means improving or adapting a pre-trained AI program or a model contained by it to meet the internal needs of your own company by training the model or program with the materials permitted under this licence.
What does the licence cover?
You may copy a work, publication or part thereof that is covered by our licence to the extent necessary for the specific purpose and use it to fine-tune an AI program intended for internal use within your company, when:
- your company has legal access to the work or publication to be copied by virtue of a subscription, agreement or acquisition, and the author of the work has not expressly prohibited the use of the work under Kopiosto’s licence; and
- the program, application or algorithm to be fine-tuned is used only for your company’s internal use.
You may not:
- remove or change the metadata of a work or photograph
- use copies or parts thereof for text and data mining
- collect or store works by using web scraping or similar data collection methods, or use datasets compiled by a third party for fine-tuning
- fine-tune any program, application, algorithm or tool based on machine learning, language models or similar artificial intelligence technology other than an AI program that is used internally by your company and specifically intended for such use
- fine-tune programs, applications, algorithms or tools with which you aim to reproduce the style, look or expression of an original work or publication
- publish, license or otherwise provide persons outside your company with access to an AI program fine-tuned under this licence
- share an AI program fine-tuned under our licence with third parties as it is or as part of a product or service to be distributed outside your company, regardless of whether the product or service is subject to a charge or free of charge.
See the licence terms for more details.
Remember to provide the source and the author
In connection to copies and slideshows, you must provide the author and publication details and mention that the copies were made under Kopiosto’s copying licence.
Report copies – make sure that authors are remunerated
To ensure that creative professionals receive the remunerations they are owed for the use of their materials, it is important to have information on what has been copied and how the copies have been used. You can easily report the copies you have made via Kopiosto’s reporting service. This way, you can ensure that the remunerations are paid to the right authors and support the livelihoods of creative professionals.
