If you are an author of texts or images, you can give your authorisation with a Grant of Rights to Kopiosto. This authorisation applies to the secondary use of printed and online publications, such as the copying, scanning and saving of your texts and images published in newspapers, magazines, books or online.
With a Grant of Rights to Kopiosto, you authorise Kopiosto to grant licences on your behalf for the copying of your works by businesses, educational institutions, public administration and other organisations. With your authorisation, we look after your rights and interests with regard to the copying of your works.
Grants of Rights to Kopiosto are given to Kopiosto member organisations
Each of our member organisations represents a specific group within the creative industry and collects Grants of Rights for author roles corresponding to the authors in their respective fields. You should primarily give a Grant of Rights to the member organisation of which you are a member and which represents professionals in your field. You can give a Grant of Rights even if you are not a member of the organisation. If you create different types of works, you should give a Grant of Rights to several different organisations – but only once for each author position.
A Grants of Rights to Kopiosto is valid until further notice. The agreement will not expire upon termination of your membership in the organisation, for instance. If necessary, you can edit the authorisation, such as by adding or removing an author position, or terminate the Grant of Rights in its entirety.
A Grant of Rights to Kopiosto does not affect your publishing agreements or any associated copyrights, or any agreements you have entered into with your clients or your employer. A Grant of Rights is often given in situations such as when you join an organisation or when you wish to take advantage of the benefits it offers, such as applying for a grant.
You can give authorisation or view your information in our Authorisation Service. Further information is also available on the websites of our member organisations.
