
The International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organisations IFRRO elected Niiranen as First Vice President of its Board at its annual meeting in Singapore on 28 October. Niiranen’s term of office is three years. Niiranen has previously served as President of IFRRO’s European Group.
“It is a great honour to be able to promote copyrights and opportunities in the creative industry as First Vice President of an international organisation,” says Niiranen.
“Together with the IFRRO’s presiding officers, Board and the Brussels-based Secretariat, the international copyright community has a number of issues to address, including the responsible use of artificial intelligence.”
Samantha Holman, CEO of the Irish Copyright Licensing Agency (ICLA), was elected President of IFRRO. Sandra Chastanet, Director of the French CFC (Centre Français d’exploitation du droit de Copie), was elected as Second Vice President.
IFRRO advocates for opportunities in the creative industries globally
Through its members, IFRRO represents millions of authors, visual artists and publishers of books, magazines, newspapers, journals and printed music around the world. Kopiosto is a member of IFRRO.
IFRRO promotes the interests of the cultural and creative industry by interacting with the EU institutions and national authorities, for example. Its aim is to ensure that the views of authors, publishers and other copyright holders are heard in discussions with decision-makers around the world.
IFRRO is also involved in developing studies and tools to support its members’ advocacy activities. It also provides legal analysis of copyright issues.
