The primary payment of AV remunerations is approaching: check these things before the payment date

At the beginning of September, we will pay about 11 million euros in copyright remunerations to authors and performers of TV programmes. In this news article, we explain what authors should do to get paid quickly.

How remunerations are paid: the remuneration amount depends on factors such as the way the TV programme is used and the type of programme

Our copyright licences allow a wide range of TV content to be recorded and used in educational institutions and households, for example. The remunerations to be paid shortly have been collected for the use of TV programmes presented in 2024.

The remuneration amount an author receives depends on many factors and can vary widely from year to year.

The payment of remunerations is based on the payment principles annually confirmed to be adopted by the Kopiosto member organisations, which determine the proportion in which remunerations are paid for the use of different programmes and the distribution of remunerations between the different author groups.

The remuneration amount that an individual author or performer receives for a TV programme is influenced by the type of remuneration, the type of programme, the copyright coefficient for creative contribution, and the author group. You can find out more about these principles on our new page on the bases for AV remunerations.
