Remunerations accrued for TV programmes from 2024 will be paid to authors and performers in early September. In order to get the remunerations paid directly to your account without delays, please do the following:
- In OmaKopiosto, check that your bank and tax details are correct. For the primary payment in September, you must provide us with your tax card in advance, by 31 August. If necessary, you can send us a new tax card securely via our uploading service.
The name of the extranet service for audiovisual authors was changed to OmaKopiosto at the beginning of August. Please note! The service is only available in Finnish. - In the authorisation service, make sure that you have given authorisation to Kopiosto. Once you have a valid authorisation, we will always pay you the accrued remunerations automatically.
We would be happy to help you with all your questions regarding AV remunerations. The best way to reach our payment expert is by e-mail at tilitys(at)kopiosto.fi.
We are testing a new feature that lets you see an estimate of the remuneration amount before payment
In the autumn, we are piloting a new feature where authors can see a preliminary estimate of their remuneration amount in OmaKopiosto even before they are paid.
The estimate of the remuneration amount will be available on the author’s own pages in OmaKopiosto in August. However, the final remuneration amount may change before the actual payment date. Remunerations will be paid in early September.
We are testing this feature because authors have asked for advance information on the amount of remuneration to be paid.
Moving forward, the educational recording remuneration will only be paid for YLE TV programmes
An individual programme can receive remunerations through several categories, one of which is the remuneration for educational recordings. The educational recording remuneration is paid for the recording of TV programmes in schools with a Kopiosto licence. The remuneration is paid to the authors and performers of TV programmes, excluding employees of the YLE and MTV broadcasting companies.
The use of TV programmes in education is surveyed regularly. According to the latest survey on educational use, schools mainly record YLE programmes. As a result, no further remuneration will accrue for programmes broadcast on MTV.
The survey also influences for which types of programmes the remuneration is paid and for how much. The types of programmes that are remunerated by Kopiosto are animations, talk shows and newsmagazines, reportage and documentary programmes, partly dramatised programmes, and documentary films.
Employees working for YLE or MTV receive their share of the remuneration for educational use through the KOURA education fund where they can apply for grants. Find out about the grants and their awarding criteria on the KOURA website.
