Public lending right scheme remunerations for visual artists

As a visual artist, you can receive public lending remunerations when people borrow your works from libraries. Remunerations are paid to the visual artists of the most borrowed books each year.

We pay visual artists public lending remunerations and remunerations for the library use of e-materials (e-books, e-audiobooks). Images that grant visual artists the right to be compensated include illustration, comics, picture of artworks, photograph and cover image.

Visual artists are paid public lending remunerations for the most borrowed books. In addition to the number of times that a book is borrowed, the amount of remuneration per book is affected by the linked to the library category in question that indicates the average number of images in books in that library category. For example, the image factor is high in comics and children’s picture books but low in adult fiction.

Each year, around 50,000 of the most borrowed publications receive remunerations, with their combined lending volume representing on average 80% of all library loans. Public lending remunerations are author-specific remunerations, and visual artists must register as recipients in the public lending right scheme service.

In the public lending right scheme service, you can update your customer information and check the remunerations paid to you from your remuneration calculation sheets. In the service, you can see a list of books for which you are registered as a remuneration recipient. You can also register as the visual creator of your books in the service.
