The number of films supported by AVEK plummeted in 2025

Last year, AVEK Audiovisual Centre distributed a total of EUR 1.7 million in grants to the audiovisual industry, which is around 60% of the total amount of financial support distributed in 2024. For AVEK, which supports documentaries, short films and media art, the greatest source of funding is the compensation for private copying paid from the state budget, which the Finnish Government decided to halve last year.

Kopiosto distributes EUR 49 million in copyright remunerations to the creative industry

In 2025, Kopiosto paid EUR 24 million in copyright remunerations to the authors and performers of TV programmes and EUR 20.1 million to the authors and publishers of books, magazines, newspapers and sheet music. A total of EUR 2.6 million in public lending remunerations was paid to visual artists and EUR 70,000 in remunerations to audiobook narrators for the library use of e-materials. Additionally, AVEK, which operates as a part of Kopiosto, distributed a total of EUR 1.7 million to audiovisual culture and the creative industries.

We surveyed the creative industry’s views on AI and outlined the principles for the responsible use of AI. We also developed a licensing solution for the use of copyrighted content in AI prompts.
